Just before Thanksgiving, love took center stage in Los Angeles as Laterras R. Whitfield, creator and host of the award-winning Dear Future Wifey podcast, married the woman his global audience has affectionately called the “Mystery Bride.” On Saturday, November 22, Whitfield and Ashley (Woods) Whitfield exchanged vows in a hybrid ceremony that beautifully blended faith, destiny, and community—both in-person at California Worship Center and around the world via livestream.
And let’s be clear: the world showed up.
At its peak, the livestream drew 28,000 live viewers, crossed 300,000 views within 48 hours, and brought in 147,000 unique visitors. Ashley’s reveal—after years of audience anticipation—instantly became a viral moment in modern love-story history.
A Full-Circle Celebration of Faith & Promise
California Worship Center, led by Pastor Warryn and First Lady Erica Campbell, isn’t just any venue—it's where the couple first met and later got engaged. Their wedding day felt like a divine homecoming.
The ceremony opened with a soulful performance by David Michael Wyatt, who sang Teeks’ “First Time” as Whitfield walked down the aisle. Wyatt then performed “You (Dear Future Wifey),” the original wedding song co-written by Laterras and Michael Bethany.
The bridal party included familiar names from the faith and entertainment communities, with Kenny Lattimore—also serving as Best Man—leading the groomsmen.
Before Ashley stepped into view, an emotional message from Laterras’ daughter, LaTerria Cosby, played for guests. Then, in one of the most anticipated moments, Lattimore sang a second original song, “So Marry Me,” as Ashley made her grand reveal—sending the audience and the internet into an emotional frenzy.
Vows That Spoke to the Soul
First Lady Erica Campbell opened with a warm spiritual blessing, followed by Scripture read by actress Brely Evans.
During his vows, Whitfield closed the chapter on years of love letters, reading his final “Dear Future Wifey” note before placing it into the iconic Love Letter Box, presented by his nephew and adopted son, LaDarrion Harris.
His vow declaration captured hearts everywhere:
“I will become a nerd of your heart… I choose to remain a ‘Student of Love,’ mastering the art of loving you well.”
Ashley matched his depth with vows rooted in faith and intentionality:
“I found a love that feels like scripture in motion… a love that feels like home.”
Symbolic Rings With a Story to Tell
The ring exchange was a moment of pure storytelling. Created with Kenyatta Black of Philadelphia Diamond Company, Ashley’s engagement ring totals 7.5 carats, featuring:
a patented 4-carat cushion queen center stone
31 rubies symbolizing the Proverbs 31 woman
dual “W” cradles for Whitfield and Woods
an inscription of Genesis 2:23 — “Bone of my bone.”
Whitfield gifted her an additional 5-carat double wedding band to complete the set.
His ring—2.5 carats—features her initials “ARW” and the inscription TDDUP: ’Til Death Do Us Part.
A Joyous Send-Off Into Forever
The couple sealed their vows with a kiss and recessed up the aisle to Kirk Franklin’s “Love Theory,” as in-person guests and online viewers celebrated in unison.
For Whitfield, the true highlight wasn’t the décor or the celebrity attendees—it was the community that has journeyed with him through healing, vulnerability, and hope. The wedding theme, #ThisIsForAllOfUs, honored everyone who has believed that love can be rediscovered and redeemed.
The celebration continued at Republic Venue in Los Angeles, where guests enjoyed a curated 25-course dining experience, heartfelt toasts, a stunning first dance, and a dance floor that stayed full all night thanks to DJ Mal-Ski.
A Star-Studded Guest List
Notable attendees included:
Fawn & Keith Weaver, Egypt Sherrod & Mike Jackson, Drs. Jamal & Karri Bryant, Carl Payne, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Lexi Allen, Jessica Reedy, Anthony O’Neal, Jamal & Natasha Miller, Meagan Tandy, Brandon Wellington, Whitney & DeAngelo Moss, Albaner & Ambyr Eugene Jr., and many beloved Dear Future Wifey guests.
A Love Story Worth Rooting For
From a viral proposal to a record-breaking wedding livestream, the Whitfields’ journey reminds us why we root for love. As Laterras often says on Dear Future Wifey:
“If it can happen for me, it can happen for anyone.”
And on November 22, the world witnessed the truth of that promise.
If you missed the ceremony...we got you!!!
